Entry & visitors
The Belvedere British School (BBS) takes full responsibility to provide a supportive and secured environment that facilitates and enhances students’ development in various disciplines. BBS’s main concern is for the well-being and safety of all students, staff and other community members off the BBS. All staff members are provided with electronic cards to register their sign in and out from the BBS. The BBS issues cards to the students’ parents and guardians as identification cards, these cards must be shown to the security guards who are available during the working hours in the BBS’s front gate. All other visitors must register in the reception and receive a visitor’s badge. The BBS is a closed campus, and the students are not permitted to leave the premises during the BBS day. Students going home because they are sick will receive a special pass from the BBS Nurse. Additional security measures are implemented by BBS staff members who constantly supervise the play areas during lunch break and monitor the arrival and departure timings of the buses.
Safety and Security
Safety and security are of the highest priority in the school. The BBS campus is monitored by special security cameras to screen any potential security concerns and/or risks. The BBS management team won’t hesitate to seek the assistance of the police in case of any possible violence, physical threats, and verbal abuse.
Health & Safety
In case of an emergency, when a student requires first aid and immediate health care, the student will consult the clinic nurse. The clinic is equipped with all necessary medical equipment and pharmaceuticals to meet any emergency cases. In serious cases, the nurse will contact the parents if it becomes necessary for the child to be sent home. If further treatment is required beyond the capabilities of the clinic, students will be referred to their respective private hospitals for further comprehensive treatment. The BBS clinic keeps comprehensive medical records for each student who has visited the clinic, whether that was for a minor or major incident. Any medications brought to the school must have a doctor prescription as per the UAE Ministry of Health’s rules and regulations.
In case of any damage to the BBS buildings, equipment, or facilities, the student, person or other entity involved will be held responsible and must pay in full for the compensation of the damage. If any equipment has severe damage beyond repair it shall be replaced. All schools keys and other facilities may be issued to the BBS staff only upon approval from the principal. Smoking and alcoholic drinks are strictly prohibited on the school premises.
In the event of an emergency during the school day, parents/guardians will be contacted as soon as possible by telephone and/or SMS.
Storage of Dangerous Substances
Dangerous substances are defined as those substances which have potential to cause risk or harm to persons, property or the environment due to their chemical, physical or biological prosperities. Dangerous substances such as: laboratory chemicals, cleaning substances, combustible liquids and toxics must be identified as “Dangerous substances” and the process of handling, storage, and using them is carefully done in isolated store rooms. The BBS Admin supervisor is held responsible for ensuring these substances are kept away from BBS community access.
Maintenance of Equipment
It is a policy of the school to have all its equipment, including the electrical equipment, tested and maintained in a safe working condition.
In the event of a fire, the alarm will ring continuously followed by a short ten seconds pause. During the first bell all students must proceed immediately in quiet and orderly manner following the posted evacuation plan and assemble at the designated points where a member of staff will record their presence and the presence of other visitors who have signed into the premises. Students shall not return back to the school until they are told that the school is safe. Emergency drills take place on regular basis throughout the year to ensure that all emergency procedures are practiced and implemented as they should be. Procedures will also be reviewed regularly by the school staff. Please see attached evacuation plan for more details.
