UK Education Consultant

Clare Burnham, Degree of Bachelor of Education with Honors (BEd), Educational Advisor

Miss Clare BurnhamDuring my teaching career, I have had a wide range of teaching experience throughout the North West of England, and across all socio-economic groupings. I have led many areas of the curriculum and been proactive in establishing and embedding initiatives in the primary phase. For the last nine years I have been teaching at Belvedere Preparatory School, UK. This has been challenging, exciting and rewarding, as I have been enabled successfully to lead our school through several changes. Currently I am Head of First School and Assistant Deputy Head. In this role I have restructured and developed this area of the school. This has involved raising academic standards; introducing an investigation-based maths programme and developing an international approach to teaching and learning through the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) – I strongly believe in the principles of internationalism, and giving pupils a growing awareness and understanding of the growing society in which they live. As a direct result of all this we received an Ofsted judgement of ‘Outstanding’ in all inspection areas. A vital part of my current role is Marketing, and it is gratifying that numbers have significantly grown and that we now have a waiting list. This is an aspect, which I thoroughly enjoy. It involves meeting with prospective parents and families, and the wider community. I have come to realise that the most successful marketing for schools is far deeper than a ‘brand’ name, but more an ‘ethos’. Marketing is an aspect, which is now firmly embedded within our school and shines in everything we do and believe in.

Ian Irwin, BA (Hons), MSc, NPQH, Headteacher and Educational Advisor

I am very proud as the Headteacher  of Stockport School and Educational advisor of Belvedere British School. Stockport School has a rich history and tradition which dates back over 125 years. Stockport School first opened in 1888, before moving to the beautiful traditional school buildings on its present site on Mile End Lane in 1938. During those years, the school has played a crucial role in shaping the lives of thousands of Stockport boys and girls – teaching them academic and practical skills to prepare them for life’s journey. Stockport School has since become very much part of the 21st century. With over 1100 students on roll, it is a thriving, dynamic and successful school, and continues to be one of the most popular and over-subscribed schools in Stockport.

The original Latin school motto, which it still retains today, is “Velis et Remis” which translates to “with Sails and Oars”. It describes going ‘all out’ or ‘pulling out all the stops’ to accomplish a feat. The meaning of the original motto is still very much evident in the culture of high expectation, dedication and commitment that our staff and students display in their work and study. More information about the school can be found on Stockport School website.
